There has been some confusion concerning Tryouts this weekend. The tryouts for Junior Varsity are on Sunday, May 9th from 2pm to 3pm at the Allen Community Rink. The Tryouts for Varsity are on Saturday, May 8th from 2pm to 3pm at the Allen Community Rink.

If you are interested in playing JV Prep the parent meeting and initial skate will occur later in the month of May.

The dates for tryouts are May 8th and 9th at 2-3pm.

Also, please note that only 9th-12th graders can play on Varsity, therefore the tryouts on Saturday the 8th is limited to High School students only.

2010 Hockey club banquet

The 2010 Allen Ice Hockey club banquet will be held Sunday, May 2nd at Southfork Ranch in the Oil Baron's ballroom.  If you need to add any tickets, please contact Louise Master immediately.  Southfork has extended their date for needing a final number of dinners to Wednesday, April 28. 

Formal pictures will be available to be taken by a photographer for a nominal fee and payment will be needed at the banquet.

Is it that time already???

Yes it is!!!  It's time to start thinking about the summer and next season...

Tryouts will be held May 7th and May 8th from 2-3pm at the Allen Event Center community rink.  Sign-ups are April 28th at the Mandatory meeting in the AHS cafeteria at 7pm.  The cost of tryouts is $75.  Varsity players will try out on Saturday, May 7 and JV players and any players who did not make the varsity team will try out on Sunday.  Only players who try out in May and make a team will be allowed to play on the Summer League teams.

National Championship Tournament

The Allen Eagle Varsity Ice Hockey team has been invited to play in the National Championship Tournament in Chicago  April 14-18 against some of the best teams in the nation.  This is a wonderful opportunity to represent Allen High School on the National level.  The first game is Wednesday night April 14th at 7:00pm against the Georgia State Champion.   Here is the link (http://usahockey.fasthockey.com/login.php)to the schedule and you can follow the games on the USA Hockey website.  Go EAGLES!!

Memory Book Meeting

Memory Book Meetings for all team moms on April 13th and April 15th  7:00pm - 10:00pm at Lowery Library.

Please bring 3 pictures of your player and some stickers, hockey sayings, scrap booking materials etc. , and anything Allen related to decorate the pages with. Each player is presented with the final copy of the memory book at the year-end banquet May 2nd, and we need lots of workers!

Annual Hockey All Member Meeting

Hockey Parents - We will hold our Annual Ice Hockey Club All Member Meeting on Wednesday, April 28th in the AHS Cafeteria at 7pm.  At this time, we will have information and signups for Tryouts as well as Summer League.  In addition we will vote in the new Board.  The Board is taking nominations right now.  Please review the descriptions of each board position (attached) and contact Louise Master if you are interested in serving.  The Slate will be emailed out on April 13th so please respond as soon as possible.  The team manager position is not a Board position and will not be chosen until after tryouts and teams are organized, but one will be needed for each team and we want parents to know the responsibilities and to know if anyone is interested.

Varsity Team Advances

The defending State Champion Allen Eagles advanced into the Semifinal Round of the AT&T Metroplex Championship Thursday night with a victory over Jesuit 6 to 4 winning the first round best two out of three series 2-0.  Brian Clinton the Senior Defenseman started the scoring for the Eagles in the first period with a wrist shot from the point that made it past Jesuit goaltender Drew Baney.  The Eagles then went on power play with less than 4 minutes to play in the first period and Bryce Steen made the Rangers pay with a goal assisted by Tyler Steen and Grayson Master to take a 2 to 0 lead.    Jesuit stormed back to score less than a minute later when Hayden Meshell split the Eagle defense for a breakaway goal.  With the momentum clearly shifting back to Jesuit the Eagles went on another power play and with less than 30 seconds to play in the first period Mason Haunschild buried the puck in the back of the net on a rebound off of a Grayson Master wrist shot taking back all of the momentum and a 3 to 1 lead into the locker room at the end of the first period.   Jesuit scored two minutes into the second period but the Eagles answered 30 seconds later  when Taylor Jones scored on a nice heads up play assisted by Colin Daniels and Grayson Master.  The Eagles took control for good with less than a minute to play in the second period when Collen Daniels scored on nice backhander with the assists going to Grayson Master, his fourth of the evening, and Alex Garrison his second of the evening.  Jesuit scored late in the third to make the final score Eagles 6 Rangers 4.   The win qualifies the Eagles for the Texas Amateur Hockey Association State Playoffs to be held in Dallas March 26^th, 27^th, and 28^th.   The Eagles will be back in action on Monday March 22^nd in the Semi Finals of the Metroplex Championship at 7:00 PM @ the Plano Dr Pepper Starcenter against Plano Sr.  Please get out and support the Eagles as they march towards another State Championship

Annual Hockey Banquet

The annual Allen Ice Hockey banquet is scheduled for Sunday, May 2nd at Southfork Ranch from 5-10pm. This is for all Allen ice hockey teams.  Please put this date on your calendar and plan to attend.  Players are free but all parents and other guests are $40 each.  A ticket form can be found at this link and may be filled out and sent to Louise or given to her at any game.  Checks will be deposited when received.  The last day to purchase any tickets is April 16.  Dress is semi-formal.  Players may bring dates or come alone.  Tables will be set up so players can sit together.   The program will include pictures, dinner and presentations of all the teams as well as a video. 

There will be a meeting to help plan the banquet and put together memory book pages for each team on Tuesday, March 23rd at 730pm at the AHS hich school library.  If you want to help out, please plan to attend this meeting.  If you have any questions, contact Louise Master at lmaster720@sbcglobal.net or 214-543-7314.

Game Write-ups

We still need two volunteers that want to provide a write up for the JV Prep, Red, and Blue games.  Any of you that want to get the creative writing juices flowing go for it! The players would greatly appreciate it.  It does not have to be lengthy and you can use your recollection of the game, add some color commentary and pull up the game sheet on pointstreak to add some stats and give credit where credit is due.  Varsity parent Clay Boswell has been doing great writing up their games... see the Varsity page.

Holiday Tournament

The Allen Hockey Organization in cooperation with the new Allen Event Center is considering hosting a Holiday tournament Dec 28-30th. We have not locked anything in yet, but this looks to be a good time for the Event Center and a time as well that many might be in the area. Before we move forward, we wanted to take a quick poll of those that will be in the area and able to participate if we move forward with these dates.

Please let your team manager know how your schedule looks.

Skating/Checking Clinic

Graeme Townshend, the skating coach for the Toronto Maple Leafs, is coming to town December 21-23.  He will have power skating classes each day for 2 hours at the Dr Pepper Star Center in McKinney.  My sons, Tyler and Bryce Steen, have spent one month the past two summers skating with Graeme in Toronto, Massachusetts, and Maine.  He has made a tremendous difference in their speed, agility, power and skating technique.  He is one of only 3 NHL skating instructors and he is awesome with adolescents.  This is a great opportunity to improve your skating at a tremendous price point.  There are only 30 spots per age group and I hope to fill them with Allen High School and Aces players.  I am releasing the camp to the public in 1 week and I am sure it will fill up very fast, so please sign up today and reserve your spot.  He has an awesome web site-  www.townshendhockey.com  --on a side note that is not on the web site, he was the body double in the movie The Love Guru with Mike Meyers.  I hope to see everyone their.

Locker Room Security

Fortunately, Allen has not had any report of this kind of activity. We want to make sure we don't. Please encourage your player to leave the valuable things at home or in their vehicle if at all possible. We will need each team manager to designate a responsible person to help secure the locker rooms at practice and games and emphasize this awareness because it seems to happen each year. The Advisory Board has made the Stars centers aware of this and at least will be a little more helpful where they can, but it will still be the responsibility of the teams and managers to help facilitate security and awareness.

Game schedules thru Jan 2010 have been posted for the JV Blue and Varsity teams (JV Red schedule is not yet available).  The Pointstreak pages for all three teams have also been linked onto the team pages.  This will allow quick reference to Team and Player Stats, as well at division standings, next game preview, and easy access to all the other Pointstreak features.

New feature this season will be a game write-up that will be accessible as a hyperlink by clicking on the Allen team for each game (as they are available).  Check-out the write-up by Clay Boswell for the Varsity game on Oct. 1st.

urgent Fundraising need

Our first concession date is Friday August 21, 2009 @ The Allen Eagles Football Stadium. This is the Varsity, JVs and freshmen's football scrimmages. I need volunteers as soon as possible to cover these slots. We WILL NOT need to cover parking at this group of games since they are just scrimmages. The entire event will need to be staffed from 4:00 PM to about 9:30 PM (estimate time) and we will be working in the new concession stand (north end of the field).

The time slots we need to cover are:
4 people 4:00 - 6:45 p.m. (or you can take the entire shift of 4:00 - 9:30 p.m.)
4 people 6:45 - 9:30 p.m. (or you can take the entire shift of 4:00 - 9:30 p.m.)
6 people 5:00 - 9:30 p.m.
The ending time is approximate, based on what time the event ends and everything is cleaned up.

If you were at Apparel Night in June and ordered jerseys, bags, socks, decals, yard signs, etc. most of the items are in and will be disbursed at Apparel Night tomorrow night. Please come and pick up your items.

REMINDER TO NEW PLAYERS:
All new players who have not turned in their contract or ordered items, need to do this on Wednesday night as well.

 Playoff Brackets

The Please go to the Summer League page to find the link to the Playoff Brackets page.  The final standings need to be determined before we will know exactly when the Allen teams will be playing, however the brackets will allow everyone to plan based on potential dates.

The second round of tryouts for the 2009/2010 season will be held at the Ice Training Center on Saturday August 8th (Varsity) and Sunday August 9th (JV) from 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM.  Please sign up in advance. If you are new to the area please contact one of the board members for information about the tryout.

These tryouts are for anyone new to the Allen School district, or anyone wishing to tryout for a higher level team.

There is only one more camp sponsored by the Allen Eagles Hockey Club for this Summer. See details below for the camp. Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach of the 2009 Texas State and RMD Champions, Dave Fry will be running the Camps. Tryout Results

Thanks to everyone for their patience over the last few days as we have had a great tryout weekend and the number of players interested in playing for the Allen eagles is at an all time high.  Emails have been sent with the results of the tryouts, and the web page has been updated with the results also.  See the button at the left labeled Tryout Results.

Please note that all JV Blue players and new players to the organization should plan to attend the Varsity tryout in August at ITC as there could be a couple of spots still open on the Varsity team at that time.   Additionally all JV Red players should plan to attend the JV tryouts in August at ITC as there are still several spots on the JV Blue team that will be filled.   All players not making a team this weekend should plan to attend the JV tryouts in August as there are several spots still open on JV Red.  The dates and times of the August tryouts will be announced later this week.

The board has decided to postpone the Apparel Night Meeting.  There were several issues that contributed to this decision and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause anyone.  There was such a strong showing at the tryouts, and such a high level of skills, that the coaching staff and board would like to not rush any part of the process.  In addition, since the JV Red team has a game scheduled on Wednesday, the decision to postpone was made. 

The website will be updated and emails sent as soon as we secure a new time and place for the meeting.

All remaining JV players not listed on the Tryouts Result page should return to ITC and be ready to go on the ice at 5:15 this Wednesday the 17^th of June.  There will be a 30 minute skate before the JV summer league game that starts at 6:00 pm.  Also please note that If you are a returning red player from last year you do not need to attend the skate.  This skate will be to evaluate new players to the organization for spots on the JV red team.

Tryouts for the 2009/2010 season will be held at the Ice Training Center on Saturday and Sunday June 13th & 14th from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM. Please sign up in advance. If you are new to the area please contact one of the board members for information about the tryout. The cost of the tryouts is $75.00 for both days.

The results of the tryout will be sent out in a broadcast email sometime Sunday evening.  The Tryout Results button to the left will also show the team assignments by Monday morning, June 15th.

Allen Eagles Hockey Club Board Elections 2008-2009

Each membership family is entitled one vote (unless the family has two players on teams) and it is mandatory that these members participate in the yearly elections. This may be done by a proxy vote if no one is able to attend the meeting and election.

Matt's mom proudly adds "I already miss him and he won't be able to come home until Christmas for a visit and then until the season ends in May.  This is his dream and we are so happy for him.  We realize if it wasn't for David Fry, Matt wouldn't have had this great opportunity.  He recommended him for this position and due to David's reputation in Canada, the coach gave Matt a tryout and he made the team!  Thanks David".

Pombo closed out his High School hockey career as Allen's goalie in 2007 with a state championship and became the first player in Allen's history, to have his Jersey retired.

We are still looking for "I" statements for the Banquet Contest. Send your  most famous true facts to Kay Holloway at trtk34@verizon.net  and let's find out how well our membership knows each other.

Examples: I was the class of 1980 Valedictorian at Glendale High in Boise Idaho. While working at McDonalds in the summer of 1993, I served Bill Clinton an order of French Frys.

There will however be a Mandatory Meeting of All Parents (Varsity & JV) who have signed their sons up to play Summer League with Coach Fry at 7:00pm on the 11th of May at ITC.

This years Summer League season includes 10 games beginning May 19th and ending July 28th. Cost will be $150 per Player. All checks must be submitted by 5/13 or you will not be allowed to play. Checks can be brought to the meeting or mailed to Fraser Ritchie at 1101 Neches Dr. Allen, 75013 (before the 13th)

JV plays McKinney for the City Championship. Puck off is Sunday 3pm at the Dr Pepper Starcenter in Frisco.

Mike Sims, father of Jason Sims, a 2006 AHS graduate and an Alumni of the Allen Eagles Hockey organization passed away this morning after a long battle with brain cancer.

On behalf of the Allen Eagles Board members, I would like to thank a few people for putting together the photo session for all three teams yesterday. First, a special “Thank You” goes to Mike Tower for his generosity in supplying us with the cars for the pictures. Next, another big “Thanks” goes to Rick Erling for taking all the pictures and working to develop them. Finally, another big “Thanks” will be going to Dave Garrison for putting the pictures onto a poster and all the hard work he will be doing for us. Thanks to All!!

We are also in need of Team Fundraising Chairpersons for each team (Red, Blue, Varsity). You're primary responsibility is simply to coordinate, align and execute the clubs fundraising efforts headed by Curtis O'Dell and Cathy Kowalski at the team level.

The club is in need of a few good volunteers for the 2006-2007 season. We need to identify Chairpersons and Committee members for the following positions.

Varsity Team Manager - POSITION FILLED

JV Blue Team Manager - POSITION FILLED

JV Red Team Manager - POSITION FILLED

Banquet Chairperson and Committee - POSITION FILLED - A chairperson and committee is needed to begin preparation of our next banquet. Our last banquet was an awesome and memorable event. We are already beginning planning for next year!

Fundraising Chairpersons - POSITION OPEN - 1 chairperson for each team (Red, Blue, Varsity) is needed to coordinate and align the clubs fundraising efforts at the team level.

Spiritwear Chairperson - POSITION FILLED 1 chairperson is needed to coordinate the sales of Eagle Spiritwear.

The meeting will be held at PSA Thursday, August 10th at 6:00pm just before the JV tryouts. At that meeting, he has requested that players come with their contracts signed. He can then know who is committing to playing Varsity this year.

Parents can pay Thursday night at this meeting, or wait until Monday, August 14th for the mandatory parent/player meeting at the Allen High School. Keep watching this website for the latest updates.

Everyone should have information on the Banquet coming up on May 12th at 7PM at the Westin Stonebrier in Frisco. You can purchase tickets by getting a check to Fraser Ritchie (1101 Neches Dr. Allen Tx. 75013). The cost is $35 per person. (Players, Coaches, 2005-2006 Board Members and Sponsors get complementary tickets, all others must pay). Allen Eagle Summer Camps 2006

2006-2007 Season JV and Varsity Tryouts

The Allen Eagles Hockey Summer Camp will run for 6 weeks, this year being divided into two separate 3-week camps. The Summer Camp will concentrate heavily on the skills of the game for players of all levels. All Allen Eagle coaches will be involved in the preparation and instruction of on-ice and off-ice sessions.  This camp is open to all current Allen Eagle players and any new players trying out for the Allen Eagles Hockey Club for the 2006-07 season. 

Agenda for Camp

Week 1:   Skating Skills, Stick handling Skills, Off-Ice Conditioning

Week 2:   Skating Skills, Shooting and Passing Skills, Off-Ice Conditioning

Week 3:   Skating Skills, Review of all skills previously learned, Off-Ice Conditioning

Week 4:   Review of first 3 weeks, Positional play and Strategy

Week 5:   Skills, Positional play, Game situation drills

Week 6:   Skills Competition, Game Day

We will have two teams competing in the ITC Summer Showcase, one Varsity and one JV.  Players and teams will be selected by the coaches after signups on the website are full.  There will be a limited amount of practices and 1-2 games per week.  The summer league is the place to have fun and try new things on the ice as a player and a team.  All Allen Eagle coaches will be involved with both teams.

The tryouts for the 2006-07 season will take place at the end of the summer and at the beginning of next school year.  The actual dates are tentative depending on the availability of ice time.  The following is the tentative schedule: 

VARSITY     -     Early August, probably the first week in August

·        There will be 2 tryout dates for Varsity.

·        Cuts will be made after both days.

·        All cuts will be posted on the Allen Eagles website within 24 hours.

·        Players getting cut after the second session will receive an exit meeting that night. 

JV BLUE     -     The week after Varsity tryouts

                          Time\Place\Dates – see "Sign-up INFO!" for latest info

·        There will be 2 tryout dates for JV Blue.

·        Cuts will be made after both days.

·        All cuts will be posted on the Allen Eagles website within 24 hours.

·        Players getting cut after the second session will receive an exit meeting with the JV Blue coach that evening.

·        All players that have been assigned from the Varsity tryouts must attend the JV Blue tryouts to be considered for the team.

 JV RED     -     Tryouts will follow the JV Blue tryouts.

·        There will be 1 tryout date for JV Red.

·        All cuts will be posted on the Allen Eagles website within 24 hours.

·        Players being assigned from the JV Blue tryout must attend tryouts for JV Red to be considered for the team.

NOTES:

·        Players/parents should not contact any of the coaches at the rink if they have been cut from a team, but may and are welcome to contact the coaches via e-mail or phone 24 hours after the ice session.  Coaches will then meet to discuss the situation and explain the reasoning behind their decision.

·        All players placement on any of the teams may change at any time during the season. Players may be moved up or down at the discretion of the coaches and the approval of the Director of Hockey.
